Whenever I get a guest who wants to find unique things around the city and not so common touristy, I always take them to the traditional market.  The traditional market is not a common place for tourists, there are many people selling and buying, the conditions are usually hot, the lighting is poor and sometimes even some corners are dirty.  but there they find their own uniqueness because they will taste some unique regional specialties.

 One time I had Spanish guests, and they were interested in joining me on a tour to see the situation of the traditional market.  For one thing, they wanted to try Yu Djum's gudeg rice and Mbah Satinem's legendary Lupis cake, and I know where to find her.  So I took them to try it all, she sells on the side of the road, in the middle of crowded vehicles, but they really enjoy the uniqueness of it.

 For them it was a great experience, because they had seen one of the street food episodes on the Netflix streaming channel about Mbah Satinem, who prepared food and sold from morning to noon.  People have been making long queues since morning just to try Mbah Satinem's lupis cake.  it turned out that the episode from Netflix made his name famous all over the world, because many foreigners took pictures with him.
